Castellanos/Eisner Campus

About Castellanos/Eisner

Camino Nuevo Charter Academy Castellanos/Eisner Campus is a dedicated and motivated community of lifelong learners that is committed to serving the children and families in the West Adams/Harvard Heights neighborhood. Our K-8 scholars benefit from a rigorous academic program and an inclusive community where each individual is valued as a learner.
The Jose A. Castellanos Campus (founded in 2010) serves 540 scholars in grades K-5 and the Jane B. Eisner Campus (founded in 2012) serves 270 scholars in grades 6-8.  Our two campuses are distinguished by a number of exceptional programs including a dual language Spanish-English program at the K-5 grades which is designed to support scholars in becoming bilingual and biliterate.  The K-5 Castellanos campus seeks to develop our scholars’ math, science, and social sciences through Common Core aligned frameworks and curricula.  Our 6-8 Eisner campus offers an integrated learning model within the Humanities block (integrating Reading Workshop/History/Writing Workshop) as well as Conceptual Math and Interactive Science.  Both campuses are committed to building on the cultural capital and social experiences that each scholar brings to school.
We utilize a comprehensive approach that integrates academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Learn more about our approach.
The mission of Camino Nuevo Charter Academy is to educate students in a college preparatory program to be literate, critical thinkers, and independent problem solvers who are agents of social justice with sensitivity toward the world around them.
Castellanos/Eisner's Charter Renewal Petition was originally approved by the Los Angeles Unified School District in 2010 and renewed for a second term in 2014. You will find our charter on the right side of this page.
